Presentations Drawn from Their Original Layouts

A .pptx opens with its theme and slide layouts applied, and its shapes, tables, and charts stay as objects rather than a flat picture.

.pptx

Free while in early release. macOS 13 or later.

Slide 3 of 4, drawn from the file's own layout. The table is an editable object, the navigator on the left shows the whole deck, and the speaker notes for this slide appear at the bottom next to the Real layout toggle.

Edit Your Deck, Then Present It

Edit slides, text, and objects in place, then present them full screen.

Slides

Add, duplicate, and delete slides, move them up or down, and insert new slides before or after any slide. A slide sorter shows the whole deck at once.

Text

Fonts, sizes, color, alignment, bullets and numbering, line spacing, and indentation, applied directly to the slide's text.

Objects

Pictures you can place and replace, shapes with fill and border, tables, and connectors that keep their original routing.

Present

A full-screen slideshow from the first slide or the current one, with keyboard navigation. Speaker notes are edited below each slide in the editor.

Layout Fidelity

The Real layout toggle renders each slide as its original file describes it, and automated rendering tests run on every change to the app.

Current Limitations

Chart insertion and slide transitions are not available in this release, and the app marks them as unavailable where you would expect to find them.

Unedited parts are carried over byte for byte. A document file is a bundle of parts. When you save, LynxOffice copies unmodified styles, comments, charts, and speaker notes back exactly as they were instead of regenerating them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it open Keynote files?

No. LynxOffice opens .pptx files. For a Keynote file, it explains how to convert the file instead of opening it with missing content.

Are the shapes editable, or is the slide a picture?

Editable. Shapes, tables, and charts are kept as objects rather than flattened into a picture. You can move them and restyle shapes and tables, and connectors keep their original routing.

Are speaker notes preserved?

Yes, and notes you did not edit are written back byte for byte.

Can I present from LynxOffice?

Yes. A full-screen slideshow runs from the first slide or the current one, with keyboard navigation.
